Commissioner
Gardner, a lifelong resident of Washington County,
currently resides in his hometown of Edmunds with his wife
Amanda and their three children. A graduate of Shead High
School in Eastport, he received his Bachelors Degree
in Business from the University of Maine at Machias in
1997.
Commissioner Gardner served the people of Washington County
for over 11 years as a law enforcement officer at
the Sheriffs Office and local
departments in Machias, Calais and Eastport. Serving as the
very first Domestic Violence Investigator for Washington
County in 2000, Commissioner Gardner received
special recognition from the Governor's Office for work in
the field of Domestic Violence. Commissioner Gardner
recently left law enforcement and was hired to lead the
Eastport Port Authority as Executive Director in 2007.
Elected to the
Commission in 2004, Commissioner Gardner was elected
Chairman of the board in 2007 and still serves in that role
today. He keeps active on many local boards and also
enjoys coaching sports in local area high schools.
He
represents the towns of: Cutler, East Machias, Eastport, Lubec,
Machias, Pembroke, Perry, Whiting, Eastern Washington County
Unorganized Territories, and the Passamaqoddy Reservation at
Pleasant Point.
