In
recognition of the strength that comes from cooperation the
Washington County Commissioners have spearheaded a regional
program known as Washington County: One Community". We're very
excited that this project gives us the opportunity to explore
what it means to work together in such an expansive area, and to
identify the things that we can share. How, for example, can we
better connect our town governments, our schools, and our
businesses?
In 2006, the Commissioners appointed several
community leaders
to steer this effort for two years. Many others have joined the
effort
and
we urge you to as well. Project committees have
formed to focus on communications, economics, youth and on the
infrastructure and social capital. Please Join In where your
interests lie and contribute what you can.
Washington County: One
Community is also thrilled to
be directed by Washington County's first County Manager. Newly
appointed Linda Pagels-Wentworth, formerly Calais City Manager,
is using her considerable skills in this existing project.
We truly feel that a "new
day is dawning" in the Sunrise County There's positive energy
and momentum springing up everywhere. Please join us as we
